Thankfully, after one spinal tap and one thorough checkout by the docs at this here hospital, I have been told that I am not suffering from meningitis nor corona. What I do have is infectious endocarditis, and it means I'll probably have to go under the knife soon... anyway, send me virtual flowers.

Well I am very glad you do not have meningitis -- my brother died of it. And I am glad you do not have Covid-19. But what you do have is something I have heard of but know almost nothing about. I will educate myself. Wishing you the best...

Endocarditis is a bacterial invasion of the heart valves and the membrane
inside the heart. In my case the causative organism is Staphylococcus
aureus---not at all an innocuous bacterium.
I now appreciate how serious this is. And understand why Covid-19 was suspected given a considerable overlap in symptoms. I am guessing that you are being treated with heavy antibiotics and hope that it will not come to surgery. My thoughts and best wishes are with you.

This is a very big deal! Good that you have made it so far: best wishes for the rest of what will likely be a fairly long road to recovery. I don't think one can expect too much out of you for a while!

It did, in fact, come to open heart surgery, from which I am now recovering
in hospital. -- N.
