This time I'm not uploading Meteorologist until others sign off on it. ;)
We lost 64 bit execution, but all else should work.

    http://www.danleys.org/Meteorologist.zip

I want to know if it works on 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, and of course 10.8.

Just stopped in to check on the 1.6.1 progress and found your trial posted.  Downloaded and installed. Fired right up, including the much beloved radar map, and seems to work fine on my Mac Mini running OS 10.6.8.  Will report back if anything changes over the next few hours.

Thanks, and really appreciate all the hard work and effort that went into updating.

Looks good :-)  (on my 10.6.5)

FWIW, I missed the radar in when it broke (and in anticipation of weather.com screwing things up yet again in the future) I had constructed a Firefox "custom button", placed near the top right of my browser window close to Meteo in the menu bar.  That allowed me to click the button to get to an appropriate (and I chose animated) weather map.

Works as advertised, including radar, on my 10.7.5 C2D.

    Many thanks!

Meteo 1.6.1 (build 1) works here on my 10.8.2 system.  First time I encountered the security message saying that the application wasn't registered.  Radar works also.  Much thanks.

Thanks for your work on this, edwardd20. Does Meteo 1.6.1 also work on 10.4.11?

@islandgirl45cv, I don't think so, but try it as a second running copy. If you are PPC, it is definitely no.

No, I'm using an older, 2007-vintage Intel iMac. What's the latest version of Meteorologist that supports 10.4.11? And is the radar gone for good on the older versions?

Just wanted to add that my early 2008 MPB running 10.7.5 is working just fine now with 1.6.1 (1.6.0 crashed launchd). I do not, however, see anything pertaining to Radar; I also do not have the settings for Servers / Weather Items / Forecast Items that display in screenshots 2 and 4 on https://sourceforge.net/projects/heat-meteo/.

    Thanks!

Unlike 1.6, 1.6.1 seems fine, including radar, Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo 10.6.8

@islandgirl45cv, 1.5.6 will be the last version that works for you.

What is adsonar and voicefive? I can't get the radar to work without allowing outgoing connections to these. Other than that, it works fine on MacBook Air 10.7.4

This may be a dumb question but here goes.  It seems to me that the issues with the Weather Channel have caused most of the problems, except getting rid of PPC support, for some time.  Is there some reason that the Radar map code could be made a Preference Item, so that if the Weather Channel changes again we could just get the correct code and replace it?

Well nuts.  Mine won't work.  I'm on a MacBook Pro 10.6.8  It's in the app folder and when I click on it, it does nothing.  I still have the other one installed.  It works fine except for the radar of course.  Any tweaking anyone had to do to get theirs to work?

WELL I'll be darned….I clicked on the link Ed posted just for the heck of it…..it installed to my desktop….clicked on that and now it's working!!!!  Radar and all.  I moved it into the app folder and it opens from there now too.  I love having the radar back.  THANK YOU SO MUCH.  You really should ask for a donation somewhere or do you?  If so point me to it.

@dra77a, open up the console and launch the new version again. See if any messages pop up.

One thing ahead of time, it's possible to have Meteorologist to only allow one copy to be launched at a time. Check for that preference.

This version opens on my MacBook (2007ish, 10.6.8), seems perfectly happy, I look away for a while and then notice it has crashed and is no longer open.

It doesn't seem to like to continue running.

  • EdwardD20

    EdwardD20 - 2012-11-25

@bbigelow - It has been running all along on my machine. Please look in the Console for any indications of why it might have crashed.

Many thanks Edward! V. 1.6.1 works fine on 10.6… and even on 10.4.10, with radar picture too.
