I'm trying to use the -trim-sector-ranges flag to reset my SSD but I have to keep trimming in 65535 increments. Why can't I just run "hdparm -trim-sector-ranges 0:62533296 /dev/sda" The help info for that flag is very vague and the error isn't very descriptive in telling me what's wrong.
Use -security-erase to trim an entire SSD. Much simpler.
But yes, it would be very good if hdparm could break up requests into smaller ranges automatically.
It doesn't today, though. Got a patch?
