Today, in order to make a drive silent, I tried hdparm. I used the latest version available for windows (6.9). Although I was globally satisfied by usind hdparm -S 5 hdb, option -s 1 looked interesting. According to the manual for this version, it was not dangerous, just ineffective if not supported by the drive. So I entered hdparm -s 1 hdb and the drive spinned down correctly. But now I can't wake it up! I hdparm -s 0 doesn't work because it says there's no such drive. I played with the bios, switch the power off, it doesn't help. Now I see in the up to date manual that it's a very dangerous option! Too late…
Please tell me there's a way to recover my disk. My motherboard is Asus P5Q-E, my drive a samsung F3 500 Go and I'm on windows 7.
My drive is back, thanks to turn_off_poweron_in_standby-1.01.iso
