The Cycle Count of my harddrive is going up very fast (>7/minute), while typing on the laptop on my desk. It is caused by hdapsd, as i disabled the power management of the harddrive and the cycle count is still rising. After i stopped the hdapsd service the cycle count remains constant.
Hi,
did you try to play around with the -s (sensitiviy) option? Does hdapsd tell you that it parks the drive 7/minute?

Evgeni
Hi, i'm facing the same problem, as my Load_Cycle_Count is increasing permanently on default-sensitivity of 15. and because my thinkpad is not solely resting on my desk the increment exceeds 7/min blunt.
just to make it clear. is that behaviour correct?
as a first solution i set the sensitivity to 75 (!) wich seems to be a suitable rate not to let the LCC rise too extreme.
but i have no idea if hdapsd still suits its purpose to protect the harddrive from impacts.
thanx a lot + best regards
