hi there as you might have seen i commited boy's changes to the cvs rep. there are some changes including the config and the output of the bot. however, the most important change is how the bot handles the commands now. it's not that stupid if/else thing anymore, no, we've got crazy java reflection now working there ;-) (http://blog.suls.org/ blog/amazing-java-reflection.html) further development will include customisable events, higher stability (time-outs etc.) and last but not least more documentation. hope you guys will give me some feedback cheers, mathias -- mathias sulser | gasterstrasse 36 | ch-8730 uznach phone +41 55 280 39 54 | mobile +41 78 892 94 62 http://www.suls.org | su...@su... | GPG 0x03679568 |

Hello! I just started with hattrick, and was looking for an IRC bot to run in Linux, and.. well, you can figure the rest. It worked well, except for a few bugs, so I thought I might help. But this project seems to have ended, or? Is there a redesign in the plans? Or to put it in an other way: What is the status? -- Vidar Hoel |

Hi there .. For two weeks nothing was added to the cvs repository. Neither Dean nor me worked obvisouly on the project so I asked myself what is wrong or missing. Do we need more support, more publicity or whatever? Was it just a fault to try making a bot together? It would be interesting to hear you opinion .. |

Heya My brain hurts .. I am currently working on the data structure and having some problems which results in questions: - Should we only work with live.asp's output? - Should we create for every event an event object (as HattrickIRC did)? I try to commit my suggestion tonight, so you can comment it tomorrow morning. btw: could you write a short description what you did in the irc part? |

First of all: how should the new app be called? .. and now to the topic. To start coding without any design is difficult and with two developers even more. The first question is where a design is needed. I think this would be the IRC part (which I think should completly be written from scratch) and the XML or data part (with additional help from JDOM). Ok, afterwards it's also needed for the communication between these two packages. We could now create some beautiful UML (OmondoUml for eclipse) diagrams which would definitely help us understanding the hole thing (but also take a lot of time) or just create some basic interfaces to show what is needed. I would say +1 to the UML suggestion. Hm? |

This seems to be the smallest possible release and that's good. Release date could be around the end of january .. I think that should be possible. >1. IRC Connectivity (Ofcourse) >2. Something like hattrickirc v2 .. just a thought. |

First milestone goals (feel free to add to, or shift ideas to a further off milestone) 1. IRC Connectivity (Ofcourse) 2. Hattrick Connectivity and XML parsing. 3. IRC interface (Basic commands to make the bot work) 4. We should try to have full exception and error logging coded within the first few builds. Taking the time to do this now will save us headaches in the future. This is by no means a completed list, just stuff off the top of my head for now. Also, we need to seek CHPP approval for the new Application. ~Dean aka 'Wulfkind' On Mon, 3 Jan 2005 10:58:50 +0100, Mathias Sulser <su...@su...> wrote: > Hi there > > As discussed the last days on the irc there is going to be a brand-new irc bot > developed by the inventors from iHTbot (dmarney) and HattrickIRC (suls). Hi there As discussed the last days on the irc there is going to be a brand-new irc bot developed by the inventors from iHTbot (dmarney) and HattrickIRC (suls). We decided to use the HattrickIRC project-environment and place the new bot as a new module in the cvs repository. The name of the bot is not yet defined so there is place for your creativity :) .. What to do next? Well there are a lot of things to do: - create a roadmap (time & implemented features) - design of the fundamental parts - define what code-libraries we use - recruit some testers and translators - build a webpage (hattrickirc.sourceforge.net) - have fun ;) Greetings Mathias Sulser ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Hi there .. (anyone here? :) For an easier introduction I will write my worried design thoughts down. org.hattrick.util .. contains the stuff for "talking" with ht.org (atm only Session) org.hattrick.xml .. parser-files what else? :) org.hattrick.pages .. contains classes for all chpp-files (live.asp, team.asp etc) org.suls.hattrickirc .. contains the real program files (nothing planned yet) and probably I will use PircBot (http://www.jibble.org/pircbot.php) for the IRC stuff org.jibble.pircbot |
