Try, php_value session.auto_start 0 Also just to be sure, you can create a info.php file and load it into your browser. In the session section you will see a master value and a local value. Using this you can test the restults of your .htaccess file to see if it is chaning correctly (is apache setup to respect .htaccess files?). Simply create a file called info.php with the following then go there with your browser: <?php phpinfo() ?> Scroll down to the session section to find the local and master values.
