I just ran a test for 10 minutes with 100 threads and after that time there were still a few (about 10) threads running that were created from hammerhead.
Is there a problem on my end or is it a bug?
It means that those threads are still waiting on a response from your server.
I see this a lot when I'm testing my application, and the database is mistuned-- I'll do searches that should take a second or two, but the database has to do a table scan and the response may take a minute or more. The hammerhead threads hang around at the end of the test until the webserver gives them back a page.
