Radios like that have software that program memories into an EEPROM but don't have CAT commands to change frequency, mode, or VFO like HF radios do. The Chirp project (https://chirpmyradio.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Home) often provides support for such radios but I don't see the '578 listed. It's the design of the radio and whether it supports a command set such as for the Kenwood TS-480: https://www.kenwood.com/i/products/info/amateur/ts_480/pdf/ts_480_pc.pdf that determines whether Hamlib supports it or not. 73, Nate -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds.
