That change was done 2 years ago and apparently nobody ever tested a C++ build except FLDigi who fixed it on their side.
I wasn't aware of any other such C++ programs.l
There is no plan to do any such macro changes in the future and was simply a result of changing the data type in another place.The change to that macro in hindsight was a mistake.

Thanks for getting this out so fast.

I am of course having to drop the patches I added for xlog etc. to
accomodate the const change.  Before I do all that, and withdraw my
upstream bug reports, I would like to understand the near-term and
longer-term plans surrounding the iterator and types.

I am guessing that the type change was overall too disruptive relative
to benefits, and that the plan for quite some time is not to reintroduce
it.  If that's wrong, an explanation of the plan would be appreciated.
