I've connected my Ubuntu laptop to my Yaesu G-5500 rotator via a "COM-232B" bought on Ebay for 150 USD. Image on https://imgur.com/a/ux9coSh. I can both read and command it using model number 603, however, the angles reported by rotctl are wrong. The analog meters on the G-5500 control box are in accord with the actual rotor positions, and the voltages sent to the rotator controller are 0-4.5 V, which I believe is as it should be. In azimuth, angles reported by rotctl are too low by a factor of .66. In elevation, angles reported by rotctl are too low by a factor of .44. Now for the question: Is it possible to tell rotctl to always multiply commanded angles by e.g. .66, and always divide reported angles by .66? |
