I am going to blame my problems on old age now. But still enjoy the sw listening hobby a lot.
Certainly keeps my brain exercised.
Am 87 now, wow, and would be most appreciative for any help with this. Using a desktop mac.
I have always had problems using git hub.
I have a small program downloaded, SWList, that requires the use of HamLib.
Installing it from github is beyond me.
Is rhere a "simple" complete install from SourceForge available ?
Or, if not, could someone tell me, very specifically and exactly, what to download, and
how to install it from github ? Would really like to use the SWList program.
Thanks for help. Most appreciated,
Bob

You have to have rigctld running.
So your setup will depend on all the software you have installed and running.
So, WSJT-X, Logger?, FLRig? etc....

Hi Nate,
Thanks for help.
Running Sonoma on a desktop mac.
As a project we don't have any prebuilt binaries available for MacOS.
I'm sure it's available someplace but I've zero familiarity with MacOS
so I'm of no help.
I can ask on Reddit and QRZ.com and maybe shake someone out. What radio
will you be using?

You can download WSJT-X for Mac here -- it contains Hamlib. https://sourceforge.net/projects/wsjt-x-improved/files/WSJT-X_v2.7.1/macOS/wsjtx-2.7.1-devel_improved_PLUS_240311-rc4_002_Darwin.dmg/download
You can then find your rig like this example to find all rigs with "2000" in the name
rigctld-wsjtx -l | grep "2000"You'll see this:PS C:\JTSDK64-Tools\tools\hamlib\qt\5.15.2\bin> rigctl -l | grep 2000 1029 Yaesu FT-2000 20240203.5 Stable RIG_MODEL_FT2000 2014 Kenwood TS-2000 20240224.2 Stable RIG_MODEL_TS2000
So for a TS-2000 you would do this:
rigctld-wsjtx -m 2014 -r /dev/ttyUSB0 -s 115200
Adjust COM port and baud rate to suit.
Then your SWList app should be able to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 4532

If you are still having trouble with this, I'd be happy to help out. Just
drop me a note in response. I'm also using a MacOS Sonoma machine, so I'd
probably have to go through this exercise at some point anyhow :-)

Hi,
Again, thanks so much for the help, and going to Reddit and QRZ for me.
Nice of you, and very appreciated.
Using with an Icom R8600. Quite a “toy”.
Would be grateful for any and all suggestions on how to install on a mac.
Best regards, and thanks again,
Bob

Hi,
Would really appreciate the “hand-holding” with this.
I have never, ever, been able to mesh with GitHub, etc.
Beyond my IQ level.
If you could send me truly step-by-step instructions (re installing HamLib on my mac),
in excruciating detail, would be most grateful.
Much thanks,
Bob

Hi,
Thanks so much for help.
Truly appreciated.
I opened the Terminal on my mac
and typed: /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)”
Hangs up after.
Should there be another “ perhaps ?
And, where are there spaces, if any ?
What comes after I do this ?
Best regards, and a most sincere thanks
for the hand-holding.
Regards,
Bob
Hi,
Any chance of simply writing out the exact step-by-step instructions for doing
this.
Would really appreciate.
Sr. Citizen now (very) but still enjoy the hobby a lot.
But, have to admit, these kind of things (especially from GitHub) I now
have problems in doing, and understanding the nuances.
Much thanks,
Bob

Another way
https://ports.macports.org/port/hamlib/
Then you should be able to do this:
1 Look for you rig model -- e.g for a TS-2000 just look for "2000"
rigctl -l | grep 2000
1029 Yaesu FT-2000 20240203.5 Stable RIG_MODEL_FT2000
2014 Kenwood TS-2000 20240224.2 Stable RIG_MODEL_TS2000
The 1st number is the model index
2 Test to make sure it works
rigctl -m 2014 -r /dev/ttyUSB0 -s 115200
At the "Rig command:" prompt type "f"+ return and you should see the rig's frequency
Rig command: f
Frequency: 14074000
Rig command: q (i.e. quit)
3 If #2 works just change rigctl to rigctld
rigctld -m 2014 -r /dev/ttyUSB0 -s 115200
4 Run you app and use your computer's IP address

Hi,
