The project looks dormant, is the code safe to use?  Will it help 
performance as much as stated?  Or are there better options at this point?

There seems to be no archive for this list; if there's been anything
interesting, I'd love to see those posts.

I am thinking about using HA-JavaMail with Tomcat (5.0.28) -- has
anyone done this?

Looks like a very useful package.
