Required software

The gxhconvert script does not perform conversions itself, it just runs the appropriate programs and provides command line arguments to them.
The software packages listed below are required.


Perl

Homepage: http://www.perl.org
Programs used here: perl

On Linux systems Perl is typically available as package.
For Windows there are different Perl distributions out there, I recommend to use Strawberry Perl.


DK tools and libraries

Homepage: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dktools
Source code, Windows executable setup
Programs used here: bitmap2pp, fig2lat

On Linux you should compile the package yourself.
For Windows there are executable installers available on the SourceForge project page.


Inkscape 0.48.x or above

On Linux systems Inkscape is typically available as package.
Binary installers for Windows are available from the inkscape homepage.


LaTeX distribution

You can use a LaTeX distribution of your choice. I use TexLive http://tug.org/ on Linux and Solaris and MikTeX http://www.miktex.org/ on Windows, but these are just my personal preferences.
On modern Linux systems you can install "texlive-*" packages using the package management.


Gnuplot 4.6.x or above

On Linux systems Gnuplot is typically available as package.
Binary installers for Windows are available from the Gnuplot downloads page.

Install LaTeX files for tikz terminal:
After installing Gnuplot you will find a /usr/local/gnuplotx.y.z/share/texmf/tex directory. Copy the contents of this directory into the new /data/usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/latex/gnuplot directory, create the directory if necessary.
Don not forget to rebuild the LaTeX file name database:

mktexlsr

NetPBM

On Linux systems NetPBM is typically available as package.
In some distributions (Debian/Ubuntu and derivatives) the NetPBM package contents is not up to date. Users of these distributions should install a more recent version from source.
NetPBM software for Windows is included in Cygwin.


Poppler or Xpdf (or both)

On Linux systems poppler/xpdf is typically available as package.
Poppler/xpdf software for Windows is included in Cygwin.


Ghostscript
