[Gwt-openlayers-users] Map Controls

Hi, 
Im trying to create an (external) tool bar with zoom in, zoom out and drag controls for my map. however, i cannot seem to attach the controls to the map. when i activate the control (ex. zoomin.activate()), nothing happens when i try click or pan through the map. any help would be appreciated.
