Yes: http://gvsigce.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Next_release_announcement The next version (Beta 2) is overdue. I cannot give you a release date. The reason is that we have inherited a very complex and difficult codebase from gvsig.org. The more we work on it, the more really heavy issues come up. On the other hand, I assure you that the next release will be great progress. It will look and perform better than any version of gvSIG that you have used before. Januar 2017. The development of gvSIG CE concentrates on: - Bug fixing. - Speed/performance. - Improvements of the user interface. - Good English translation. - Robust geoprocessing (incl. GRASS interface, etc.). See here for details: http://gvsigce.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Next_release_announcement The current gvSIG 2.0 has many new features, but last time I checked many of them were very buggy. This has always been the problem with the original gvSIG project: Fast development but poor quality control. We take the opposite approach: Quality and reliability first. New features are only introduced after careful consideration. > It is planned to be able to view the 3D? Yes. Previous attempts to plug a 3D view into gvSIG have given poor results. There is a network analysis extension that currently has some bugs. These will be fixed. Hopefully, we will have this functionality in the next release. Also, the network modules in the GRASS backend (v.net.*) are very powerful and will soon be available. Hi folks, not sure if I am missing something and therefore asking via this list before spamming the bug tracker ;-) Maybe there are some related tickets already (proj4?) Reprojecting from WGS84(EPSG 4326) to GK4 (EPSG 31468) puts the geometries in a wrong place, approx. 30m offset to southwest. Projecting the same geometries back to WGS84(EPSG 4326) puts them in the right place. I did not use any extra EPSG transformations settings as there are none available for WGS84(EPSG 4326) to GK4 (EPSG 31468). Is it me or the software? Hi Christine, I have found the extension "extExportMobile" in the gvsig.org SVN repository: https://devel.gvsig.org/svn/gvsig-desktop/tags/v1_12_0_Build_1417/prototypes/mobile/desktop/extensions/extExportMobile ... but I don't understand why it is listed as an extension for gvSIG 1.12 on gvsig.org. I took a look at the code and it seems that it uses an outdated gvSIG API from 2008. So I don't see how this would work with any current gvSIG version. From what I understand, it should be possible to update "extExportMobile", but it would be a substantial effort. Have you contacted the developers in Valencia? Dear Christine, The gvSIG CE API differs slightly from that of gvSIG 1.12. So with some luck, extensions written for 1.12 will run, but there is no guarantee. Also note that gvSIG CE uses a new user interface, with a consistently sorted main menu bar and new icons. If any "foreign" extension just adds its menu entries/icons, then the result will probably be less than pretty. If you still want to give it a try, then you have to somehow locate the download file for the extension on gvsig.org and install it manually, since gvSIG CE does not have an extension manager. When you have found the extension file, it will probably come as a ZIP or similar. So you need to unpack it and place the resulting folder into the "ext" subfolder of gvSIG CE. Best, Ben On 21/10/15 15:17, Christine wrote: > Dear Ben, > > thanks for you reply ! > > Found a link to gvSIG Mobile Pilot extension versions for gvSIG Desktop 1.x > (1.11 and 1.12) on the official gvSIG (Valencia) pages, see > http://www.gvsig.com/en/products/gvsig-desktop/previous-versions > <http://www.gvsig.com/en/products/gvsig-desktop/previous-versions> . Dear Christine -- gvSIG CE is a continuation of the older (stable) 1.x codebase, while the current "Valencian" version has a different codebase (2.x). Unfortunately, the two APIs are not compatible, so that extensions written for gvSIG 2.x will not work with gvSIG CE. The second problem (not able to export to PostGIS) got its own ticket: http://gvsigce.sourceforge.net/mantis/view.php?id=629 We will start working in earnest on the PostGIS driver soon, so please keep reporting (existing bugs = tracker, new issues = this list if you like), so that we can make sure to take care of all the problems! Hi all, Marc Mallett wrote > I have forgotten to mention that I am using the beta 2 of gvSIG CE > (19.01.2015). I tried opening one of the big attribute tables (streets) in beta 2 as well and can confirm freezing of CE. I terminated it via task manager. See attached screenshot and log. Hi Marc, You have a development snapshot and we are currently actively working on the memory management, so it is very possible that there is a problem in your version that did not exist in Beta 1 and does no longer exist in the current version in SVN. Let me test this and we will handle this via the bug tracker. Hi, I have forgotten to mention that I am using the beta 2 of gvSIG CE (19.01.2015). Because Johannes had no issues with memory leaks, I have compared beta 1 and beta 2 and it looks like the memory leak is only in beta 2. In the log-file there are no errors, just some missing translations. In beta 2 it seems like the table is always requering the data, and if I close the table-window, the memory will not be freed, not in jawaw .exe and not in postgres. If I close the program postgres is instantly freed up. Hope it helps. Well, there are errors detected in row 243. Some invalid character data was found. This is not obvious looking at the attribute table in QGIS or Postgresql. By the way: It is also not possible to export/write data to a PostGIS-DB. I tried several times with different layers, also with our subway layer. Does not work. See attached log. Are there any interesting messages in "gvSIG.log"? > I cannot confirm delay or exhaustive memory usage with the other tables > mentioned with beta 1. Laurent B. has done a lot of work recently cleaning up the table widgets. So maybe this is already a non-issue. I will keep the related ticket opened anyway, until I had a chance to test this.
