[Gusdev-gusdev] database problem?

I get the two messages below -- and understand neither --
both during fresh installation of GUS modules ("build GUS install -append")
and with "ga -history <plugin>". Our GUS configuration is incomplete, 
but since this happens during installation,  I think it 
may be worth understanding, at least to know if it is ignorable. 
Could anyone help out with a comment or two about this?

DBI subclasses 'GUS::ObjRelP::DbiDbHandle::db' and ::st are not setup,
