Once you have bitbaked your new OpenEmbedded build, you need to prepare a new SD card that contain the updated files. It looks like you did not put the updated X-loader on the SD card. The binary file "MLO*" is the same as "X-Loader". This web page: http://www.gumstix.org/create-a-bootable-microsd-card.html ...tells you what to do. You might want to create the SD card all over again, from scratch, because the file named MLO must be the first file on the first partition of the SD card. You can cp MLO... /your-boot-partition/MLO on the SD card. Can you see how MLO... gets renamed to plain old MLO? Your Overo will boot from the SD card first if it is present. It will load (boot to) the files you put on your SD card.
