Have you looked at the FTDI solutions. http://www.ftdichip.com/ You can get their modules from digikey. Modules are fairly small but with certainly give you the confidence in proof of concept from which you could spin a smaller dedicated solution. Design schematic are availble for their modules. Subject: [Gumstix-users] TTL UART to Summit Board Hi All! I've got a GPS (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=465) communicating over UART TTL (it's actually a bit below TTL), which I want to connect to the Summit board with minimal components - this is for an embedded application, so size is crucial. Right now I have the GPS output level-shifted, then translated to RS232, and sent to the computer over a serial-to-USB connection, so I can translate from any of the following: GPS's slightly-below-TTL output TTL RS232 To any of the following (ie, any input to the Summit Board): I2C SPI Male 5-bin Mini-B USB Anyone got a suggestion that doesn't involve 5+ stages (my best solution thus far)? All the UART to USB modules (ie Sparkfun: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=199) that I've found so far all have female connections, and I haven't found a good male-to-male adapter either... Thanks so much for the help! -Kim -- Kim Turley kim...@gm... |
