What kind of output do you get from ts_print_raw? That might help determine whether it is hardware or software. If it responds to your finger monotonically in x and y, then that is a good sign for the hardware. Also I think ts_print_raw has pressure information. I know it has time information, and I believe the time between reads should be less than 100 ms. If it is, it is likely that both the driver module and the hardware are good. Also tslib is good because that's where the test programs come from. There might be other issues I am not aware of, but at that point I would suspect the application program.
