Thanks so much for your help, J. I was able to build the console image followed by loading it up via a microSD card. I'll try the bitbake -c menuconfig omap3-console-image command first thing tomorrow to play with it. A couple of questions. The application I need to develop is read data over the serial port (RS232) and send the data to an AP via the onboard WiFi module, packetized in some custom fashion. Do you think you could give me some bulleted guidelines? How do I go about doing that? I guess I am haing trouble understanding how/where to write up source code and how to make it execute at boot up etc. basically, the flow, if you will. It builds "everything" you need in order to make a bootable Linux kernel for your Gumstix (x-loader, u-boot, uImage). 2. It not only downloads and builds the source, but it downloads and builds the tools used to build the source (cross compiler, etc.) 3. Assuming you are following the directions on the gumstix.net web site, the major things of interest get built to: ~/overo-oe/tmp/deploy/glibc/images/overo 4. As to how to modify it (like selecting different kernel options, building additional modules, etc.), try something like: bitbake -c menuconfig omap3-console-image Good Luck. -J asufi wrote: > > Hi J: > > I was able to successfully run bitbake using bitbake omap3-console-image > > What does this do really?
