Hi Ben, Is /bin/sh pointing to dash (or something else) instead of bash on the machine you're using to build the package? It's just a wild guess, but forgetting to make sure /bin/sh points to bash (it is common for it to point to dash in Ubuntu and soon Debian machines) has gotten me into trouble before (though I suspect if that were the case you'd have encountered other problems before now). Subject: Re: [Gumstix-users] strange syntax error So I discovered the "file" command, and ran "file libnmc.so.0.1" and "file hop". Here is the output: libnmc.so.1.0: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, ARM, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped hop: ELF 32-bit LSB relocatable, ARM, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped As far as I know, this implies that they are in fact compiled for the gumstix. Does anybody know what might be causing this error? I can't find anything useful with google. Thanks for the help. -Ben artec wrote: > > System: basix, breakout-gs, OE > > Hello, > I have created a package (hopper), that depends on a custom library > package (libnmc).
