Matt,
THANK YOU! I had been trying to use 'rz' on the gumstix and 'send' with
kermit, but had not 'set protocol zmodem'. To those reading who maintain the
getting started (hello world example) wiki this info should be added for
those newbies like me who might be in this same boat. The wiki makes it
sound as though if you don't have a network connection your up a creek.

[Gumstix-users] File Transfer question (newbie)

Hello all,
After going though the tutorial I've been able to successfully build the
hello world program and I have a .ipk file ready to be sent to the gumstix
(Verdex XL6P). My problem is this: I only have the motherboard, a tweener
and a robostix. No SD/CF or network connection (wired or wireless). Is there
a way to transfer files to the gumstix via serial connection? I've tried
setting up (unsuccessfully) a z-modem transfer as mentioned in other posts,
but ckermit just shows errors and no files are actually sent to the gumstix.

Hi Mike

I have been able to use Kermit to xfer files as mentioned in the wiki 
getting started articles.  Besides that, if your system supports "scp" 
you might try using that tool.  See the the later portions of the Hello 
World Tutorial for an example of using SCP.  My linux machine (PC) 
supports this and it works fine for me.

disregard what I just wrote you, I just realized that you did say you 
don't have a wired ethernet port to the gumstix.  Sorry.

 You may have tried this already, but if you're using ckermit, you need to:
