I am trying to use the ethernet on a netCF-vx with a Verdex XL6P with a console-vx and the stock firmware: # cat /etc/gumstix-release DISTRIB_ID='gumstix' DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION='' DISTRIB_RELEASE='1410' DISTRIB_CODENAME='' BUILD_DATE='Wed May 16 15:22:40 PDT 2007' BUILD_HOSTNAME='azazel.hughes-family.org' the relevant boot messages are: Starting network... udhcpc (v0.9.9-pre) started Dec 31 16:00:27 udhcpc[181]: udhcpc (v0.9.9-pre) started smc91x.c: v1.1, sep 22 2004 by Nicolas Pitre <ni...@ca...> eth0: SMC91C11xFD (rev 2) at c8870300 IRQ 68 DMA 8 [nowait] eth0: Ethernet addr: 02:00:00:1a:40:90 Nothing to flush. eth0: link down NET: Registered protocol family 17 Starting Rendezvous: Starting dropbear sshd: NET: Registered protocol family 10 ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready Mobile IPv6 OK Starting httpd... I've got the serial console running over a null-modem cable, and I've been able to verify the board boots and there is nothing suspicious in /var/log/messages. When I plug an ethernet cable into the nedCF-vx LED4 lights up solid and LED5 blinks randomly. I've tested both ethernet patch cables and switch ports I'm using with both my PC and the verdex stack; they work fine with the PC but not with the verdex: ifup eth0 says: # ifup eth0 udhcpc (v0.9.9-pre) started Nothing to flush. eth0: link down ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready FWIW, there is a working dhcp server on the network. I've read through "Setting Up Communications" and "Networking" on the gumstix Wiki, as well as dug through the mailing list archives, but I'm still at a loss as to why I'm getting the "link down" and "link is not ready" messages from the verdex with a working ethernet cable plugged in. What other things can I check to track this down? Thanks, Sean |
