It's highly likely that there ARE many inner layers, at least on the
cpu boards.  However, after careful inspection with a strong
backlight, I reamed my holes out to 1/16" (400xm and netcf) and it
doesn't seem to have caused any problems.

Plea to gumstix folks: please use bigger holes in the future, so we
don't need those ridiculously small screws any more.
