Albert, That looks like a great tutorial! The reason for wanting to use the gumstix is the ability to upload this data to the internet. We're planning to hook this up to a stationary bike and upload the bike speed and heart rate of the user to a central machine for the purpose of a study. Can you connect pics like that to the gumstix? I'm also wondering how to interface the gumstix with the heart rate monitor we're looking at using. Vernier.com makes one[1], and it sends a voltage signal of about 3v when there's a heart rate and 0v when there isn't.
