Problem getting terminal access on a Verdex XL6P/Console VX
I am having a problem getting connected to my new Verdex XL6P. Any
help would be seriously appreciated.
Here is my setup:
Verdex -> Console VX -> Null Modem cable -> MOXA NPort5110 TCP/IP to
RS232 serial -> client computer (using Hyperterminal)
I have a 4V power adapter connected to the Console VX to power the
unit. An orange light is observable on the Console VX ~2 seconds after
I am connected to the center MiniDIN-8 connector on the VX.
The MOXA is set up in Real COM mode (I have access to an emulated
serial port on my computer getting wrapped in TCP/IP and sent on the
MOXA). The serial connection parameters are set as 115200 Kb/s, 0
start bit, 1 stop bit, no flow control. This is the same setup I am
using in Hyperterminal.
Here are the troubleshooting steps I have taken:
I have tried all 3 MiniDIN-8 connectors on the Console VX,
powercycling the Verdex and waiting a few minutes for a response on
each. My understanding is that the center MiniDIN-8 is FFUART, and the
Verdex listens and responds on this UART channel, but I checked all of
them to be sure.
I have connected pins 3 and 5 of the null modem cable MiniDIN-8
connector together and watched everything I type echo. This leads me
to believe that the problem lies on the Verdex/Console side.
I do not have access to any test equipment (unless it is something I
can creatively rig up with household stuff) at this time.
Any ideas on what might be the problem, or what would be the next step
