Today I got my brand new connex 400xm-bt. I connect to it via null-modem cable and tweener. bash-3.00> kermit -l /dev/ttyS1 C-Kermit 8.0.211, 10 Apri 2004, for Linux ... C-Kermit> set speed 115200 /dev/ttyS1, 115200bps C-Kermit> set carrier-watch off C-Kermit> connect Connecting to /dev/tyS1, speed 115200 ... When I turn the 4V power supply on I can see the startup messages. But when it comes to login it's impossible to type anything. No kidding! Escape with Ctrl-\+C works. When I quit kermit it complains: C-Kermit> quit Closing /dev/ttyS1...ttclos() timeout: hangup ttyclos() timeout: close ?Warning - close failed: /dev/ttyS1 OK Trying to check my Linux system I connected to myself (ttyS0 -> ttyS1)... I logged in ... everything works just fine. I tried the other way round ... success. So I guess everything is OK with it. Is there anyone who came across this? Are there some options to play with? Thank you for your concern. |

Hi, I am having a login problem in gumstix. I am using kermit to connect to the gumstix. After typing a "connect" command in kermit prompt I can see the gumstix booting. After booting it show following message. Welcome to the Gumstix Linux Distribution! gumstix login: For some reason I am unable to type from keyboard. I am trying to type in login name "root" but screen is not showing anything. It is just keep prompting to above message "gumstix login". Please let me know if you know the solution for this problem. I had this happen to me not long ago. It was shortly after a storm had moved through the area. I thought surely since my system was still up that things should be ok, but it seemed that the only fix was to connect my gummy to another computer's serial port. When I tried that, it worked as it normally does. I don't know if my serial port on the other computer somehow fried during the storm (have yet to reboot it for a number of reasons)...or if it was just coincidental timing and the driver got boffo'ed and the o.s. needs a reboot to fix it. Either way, connecting to a different computer's serial port was the fix for me. I know this is so obvious it hurts and it's embarrassing to ask, but...have you tried a different serial cable and/or made certain that the pins in the cable aren't bent or something so that they aren't in the port correctly? Forgive me for asking such an obvious thing..but I just had to. :-D --Pat > Hi, > > I am having a login problem in gumstix. I am using kermit to > connect to the gumstix. I did set flow-control to none. So i think that is not the problem. Craig Hughes <cr...@gu...> wrote: On Jun 26, 2007, at 2:05 PM, ramanlal patel wrote: > I am having a login problem in gumstix. I was just wondering if that is the problem then why would gumstix manufacturer even sell basix-bt package.( basix-bt, robostix and tweener as a package). What kind of problem is that so kermit is not taking any input from keyboard? I am confuse. I am confuse. The tweener was never really intended to be used with the robostix, since the robostix has a console port on it (albeit a logic level serial port). The tweener was designed to work with the original audiostix. The problem is that there is a 5v to 3.3v converter on the robostix which is trying to control the Rx line to the gumstix, and the tweener also has an RS-232 to 3.3v converter which is trying to control the Rx line on the gumstix. What happens is that neither one works. Cutting the trace disconnects the robostix voltage conveter and thus there is only the tweener trying to drive the Rx line so everything works fine. I can't comment on why the tweener hasn't been fixed. -- Dave Hylands Vancouver, BC, Canada http://www.DaveHylands.com/ |
