It might be overkill, but I wouldn't call it a stupid idea.

Since you can't plug both of those in at the same time, I'd use a roboaudiostix.
You're still going to need an H-Bridge if you're going to be driving a
permanent DC motor. If you're using servos like the original Mark III
does, then the robostix can drive them directly.
