I'm a Linux user myself, but minicom is in fink: http://pdb.finkproject.org/pdb/package.php/minicom . Provided the Overo connection appears as a tty device somewhere I'd guess that might work. Certainly it's working nicely for me on Linux. S |

Greetings, I didn't have much luck with Fink, but I was able to build Minicom for OS X from the Debian Sources without any trouble: http://packages.debian.org/source/etch/minicom Best Regards, Na'Tosha -----Original Message----- From: Steffan Davies [mailto:st...@st...] Sent: Monday, January 12, 2009 11:53 AM To: General mailing list for gumstix users. Hi, Any idea which /dev/tty file corresponds to the USB ports on a Mac Book Pro? I connected the overo , and another external USB harddisk, but the names don't change or have a suffix to indicate which device is connected. I'll go with compiling minicom on Mac OS X. Thanks for the tip!! :-) Best regards, Elvis On Jan 12, 2009, at 9:07 PM, Na'Tosha Bard wrote: > Greetings, > > I didn't have much luck with Fink, but I was able to build Minicom for > OS X from the Debian Sources without any trouble: > > http://packages.debian.org/source/etch/minicom > > Best Regards, > Na'Tosha > > -----Original Message----- > From: Steffan Davies [mailto:st...@st...] > Sent: Monday, January 12, 2009 11:53 AM > To: General mailing list for gumstix users. > Subject: Re: [Gumstix-users] Terminal emulation program for Mac OS X > |

Hello, Are you using a Serial-to-USB converter? If so, it will probably show up as /dev/tty.something -- mine is /dev/tty.USA19H3d1P1.1 Best Regards, Na'Tosha -----Original Message----- From: Elvis Dowson [mailto:elv...@ma...] Sent: Monday, January 12, 2009 12:22 PM To: General mailing list for gumstix users. Hi, I am not using a serial to USB converter. The expansion board already has a FTDI USB to serial converter chip on board, for the console port for the Overo. So, I've connected a mini B (black) USB to standard A USB cable to the first USB port on the left side of my Mac Book Pro. BTW, I also just setup a Fedora Core 10 VMware image and I connected the same cable to the Mac, and the VMware image picks up the USB device for Fedora Core. I just powered on my Overo and I can see the diagnostic images, using Kermit. The first time book appears to be doing some major compiles and setup. Ah yes, now it is complete and I can see the Angstrom login. This is working in the Linux VMware environment. I guess if I can find out which /dev/tty file corresponds to the USB port on the Mac, it should work? Greetings, Okay; I wasn't sure if it had Serial-to-USB conversion built in (I work with the Verdex Pro, not the Overo). Yes, it sounds like if you can get the device to enumerate properly and figure out what the listing in /dev/ is, you should be good to go. Does it perhaps show up as a /dev/usb* device instead? You can also use screen from the built in os x Terminal program, but the ANSI emulation is far from perfect: screen /dev/tty.KeySerial1 115200 On Jan 12, 2009, at 8:33 AM, Elvis Dowson wrote: > Hi, > Which terminal emulation program can I use with Mac OS X 10.5.6 to > talk to Overo? > > Best regards, > > Elvis > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > This SF.net email is sponsored by: > SourcForge Community > SourceForge wants to tell your story. > http://p.sf.net/sfu/sf-spreadtheword > _______________________________________________ > gumstix-users mailing list > gum...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gumstix-users |
