Hi, Adam I have interst in your work. I had tryed the booting step by step that boot the kernel, boot the Android rootfs cause I've thought it can be able to treat separately the Android. I had used the Kernel which is in android-kernel:android-3.4@gumdroid in github and rootfs which is rowboat_ics.xml. But, it cannot boot... I have continued trying with the some conbination (kernel + rootfs at any repo). Woud you tell me how to build the Jellybean image your work. If the Gumstix with Palo35 can be boot the Android (>4.0.3) with basic feature (touch screen & gpio button), we are going to purchase the some overo additionally. thank you for your treat, best regards ________________________________ > Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2013 09:05:15 -0700 > Subject: Re: [Gumstix-users] how to build Android ICS or JB on OveroFire > From: ad...@gu... > To: ta...@ho... > > Takio, > > I've booted Jellybean on Overo a month ago. Hi Takio, We use Android ICS (4.2) on the Overo as the main OS for our product. Out system consists of: 1. Stock Linux 3.4.35 kernel from kernel.org with patches from Sakoman (and some custom patches) added. 2. Android source from AOSP (http://source.android.com/) 3. Some additional binaries - busybox, thttpd and custom apps. 4. SGX drivers from Texas Instruments for video acceleration. We stripped the Android system right down - no phone or Bluetooth services for example. The only standard application we include is Settings and we replaced the shell with a minimal launcher (it's a dedicated device and only ever runs one application). We use the standard AOSP build system (adding a custom device definition for our hardware and additional compilation modules for the extra tools we need). It works quite well on the Overo. Ethernet, USB and WiFi (both hotspot and client mode) are all working and all the Android development tools work fine with it. It took about a week to get a bootable, basically working image up and running and about the month to get all our hardware working correctly.
