Hi, I'm again trying to figure out how the whole USB framework is supposed to work with the Overo and Summit board. Currently I'm using upstream vanilla 2.6.37-rc8 (+1 DSP bridge patch). My goal is to get a webcam working preferrably without a powered USB hub but I'm trying to figure out all the usb host possibilities as well. I don't mind long answers here ;) First some kernel configuration questions: I guess I should I enable EHCI (CONFIG_USB_EHCI_HCD_OMAP) for OMAP but what about OHCI (CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD_OMAP3)? Should I enable OTG (CONFIG_USB_OTG) under the Host-side USB support? How does it differ from the dual role controlled below? Should I enable USB runtime power management (CONFIG_USB_SUSPEND)? I think I did saw my camera detected during the boot but it wasn't available in /dev/video0 or lsusb maybe because it was quickly suspended. I assume I should enable "Inventra Highspeed Dual Role Controller" and use the TUSB6010 as the Platform Glue Layer insted of OMAP2PLUS? Should I select OTG or the HOST mode for the Dual Role Controller above? I.e. would the host mode be a safer bet when I'm not interested in slave mode or should the OTG mode work just as well? Would it be better to compile certain features as module or as built-in to kernel? Should both ports (host and OTG) work properly when hot-plugging devices? Do both ports (host and OTG) provide 100mA power? After testing a bunch of combinations I just got my usb camera working in the host port through a powered USB hub. It now sends DSP encoded H.263 to my PC. Still some timing issues but at least something works :) Thanks, -- Tuomas |

Tuomas, I have my webcam operating through the USB OTG port. I disabled the 100mA check, and am powering the device externally with a 5v supply. It seems to be working well. What kind of resolution/framerate are you getting at H.263? -Tom -----Original Message----- From: Tuomas Kulve [mailto:tu...@ku...] Sent: Wednesday, March 09, 2011 11:27 AM To: gum...@li... I didn't get the OTG port to detect my USB hub at all, yet. > What kind of resolution/framerate are you getting at H.263? I think it was doing 30fps at 352x288 using the GStreamer's videotestsrc but I had issues on the the playback side. I guess there was some timestamp problem and the playback was skipping frames so I don't know how fast it actually was. -- Tuomas |
