While i wait for christmas to be over so i can afford one or two of these
machiens, im trying to thinkup projects to build on them.
One idea of mine, was a super geeky portable mp3 player.
using the gumstix-connex with the audiostix and netMMC and the software mad
i could easyily setup a cript to randoml play music from a MMC card, howeve=
it would be helpfull if there was a way of hurrying the player along by
what would be the easyest way for a strong linux user (but weak hardware
hacker) to add a couple of keys.
So far, the best idea i have come up with, would be to steal the hardware
out of an old serial keyboard,
and wire up one or two push buttons to short out certain keys. (hopefully b=
able to read them from userspace through /dev/ttyS0 ?
But if possable, i would like to avoid this as the tweener board almost
doubles the length of the total unit.
ALSO, i dont even know if the tqweener board can be used in such a fassion.
ALSO... i read in one forum, that in 2006 the next generation gumstix was t=
be released featureing a series 270 CPU.
Is it worth waiting for this new model ?
The current gumstix looks great, but im having trouble thinking up good
projects that are buildable.. (i find myself desireing a 3rd expansionn
Is the NG gumstix for 2006 just a rumour, if not, what can we expect from i=
I dont want to go spending $500 on the full gumstix kit to find that the ne=
improved version is released next month.
Sorry for swamping with questions :)
And thanks for your great help.
