Hi Greg, The term back ported generaly means to go back in revision. You can use svn to check out a partectular revision od the build root. I would reccommend removing your currect build root before "back porting" Tim -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: G Elliott <gel...@gm...> > sorry to be dense, but how would i go about doing that? > > greg > > On Jan 31, 2007, at 7:47 AM, ken staton wrote: > > > On 1/30/07, G Elliott <gel...@gm...> wrote: > >> so i was able to get revision 1092 to boot via the mmc card, however, > >> it seems that bluetooth functionality is not available. any ideas? > > - snip - > >> # hcitool scan > >> Device is not available: Address family not supported by protocol > > > > the bluetooth module changed a while back (since rev 1092). > > > > back porting it to the 2.6.17 kernel should be straight forward. > > > > --- > > ken > > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > --- > > Take Surveys. hm, ok. i thought ken was recommending i take a recent bluetooth module and port it to work on the 2.6.17 kernel (which to me meant modifying some driver code). ken, can you clarify a bit? thanks, greg On Jan 31, 2007, at 1:23 PM, tim...@co... wrote: > Hi Greg, > > The term back ported generaly means to go back in revision. > > You can use svn to check out a partectular revision od the > build root. well, while i'm waiting to hear from ken about what he meant by backporting the bluetooth module to 2.6.17, i made another attempt at mmc booting with the 2.6.18 kernel (rev 1200). got this error: Found gumstix-factory.script on MMC... ## Executing script at a2000000 MMC found. Check out the buildroot version you want, and then do: cd /path/to/buildroot svn merge package/bluez@BASE package/bluez@HEAD package/bluez That should update just the bluez package in your svn workdir to the HEAD, leaving the rest on the revision you had before. I think at this point actually, I should probably just remove the OS timer 32kHz clock starting thing (ie the thing where pxaregs is being called in the bluetooth startup script), since it's been in u-boot for a long time now and works way better there. great, thanks craig. your suggestion worked. just for anyone else that runs into this problem and happens on this email, i didn't need to update u-boot, only the bluetooth. i checked out and built rev 1092 (the most compatible with mmc card booting) and then updated the rev's bluetooth using: cd /path/to/buildroot svn merge package/bluez@BASE package/bluez@HEAD package/bluez thanks, greg.elliott arts.computation.engineering university.of.california.irvine On Feb 8, 2007, at 1:40 PM, Craig Hughes wrote: > On Feb 8, 2007, at 10:17 AM, ken staton wrote: > >> On 2/3/07, G Elliott <gel...@gm...> wrote: >>> well, while i'm waiting to hear from ken about what he meant by >>> backporting >>> the bluetooth module to 2.6.17, >> >> replace the bluetooth code in 2.6.17 with the code from the latest >> build root. >> >> usually easier said than done. >> i'd start by looking at differences in package/bluez/*.patch files > > Oh, one other thing, you might need the latest u-boot too, which sets > the clock ticking which drives the BT module's timing.
