Spent this weekend getting some really good work done on my little
mobile robot project. Nothing too clever, just a verdex and a couple
of stepper motors thus far.
Anyway, all was going well and I'd almost finished the drivers when
the verdex board just powered off. I turned it off and on again and
the power LED on the console board flashed on for about a second
before powering off again.
I wasn't messing with hardware at the time. Power to the console-vx
was coming from a 5v regulator (plugged in to the power adapter jack),
which regulated down from a battery voltage of ~11v. GPIOs from the
AC97 port (28, 29, 30, 31) were connected to a couple of "easy driver"
stepper motor drivers from sparkfun.com.
I susequently tried the verdex in a breakout-vx board, and the same
power issue occurred. As a last ditch test I plugged my old Gumstix
basix into the console-vx (bolted to my robot chassis) and it booted
So clearly something is wrong with my Verdex!
Does anyone recognise the problem?
Why does the power go off after a second or so? I thought the
regulator and LED were powered directly from the console board?
Most importantly - what do you think could have caused this? I don't
want to buy a replacement Verdex, plug it in to the same setup and
Thanks in advance...
