I got a Netstix 200xm computer awhile ago (must be as it's being
phased out <g>), that uses the connex motherboard. The documentation
site says I should use ipkg to add packages, but this doesn't exist on
the stock connex board software. I'd like to build the Open Embedded
(OE) system for it so I can add Python to its software stack. However,
I'm confused how to get started doing this, if it's even possible, and
how to safely flash the system for instance. When I first got the
system I tried flashing it with a pre-built binary and managed to
brick it, and had to send it back to Gumstix to get re-flashed to it's
So if people could help me out with the following:
1) Build the OE software development system on my Ubuntu box
2) How to include Python or ipkg in that build
3) How to safely flash the connex board with a binary image when I've got one.
I'd be most appreciative. I've been developing professionally for a
long time, but not with the Linux system all that long. So I can
figure things out if someone would just give me some pointers or URLs.
