My gumstix is really trying to make me cry today. Just when I thought I was getting somewhere... Should mounting nfs volumes "just work" after turning on nfs and nfsv3 support in the kernel? I noticed that these are now turned off by default in 2.6.17gum, but I can't get NFS to work now after re- enabling them. Are there other bits that need to be turned on somewhere else in the kernel? Some incantation that needs to go in a file somewhere on the gumstix? |

I guess I should say: mount fails instantly with "No such file or directory"... it doesn't even think about it very hard. The mount point /mnt/nfs does exist. I even tried creating a new one somewhere else but that didn't work. I can ping the SUSE box that is the NFS server. I was able to mount the NFS server from a different gumstix running 2.6.11. hmmm.... On Jul 2, 2006, at 1:13 PM, Darren Gibbs wrote: > My gumstix is really trying to make me cry today. Craig recently stripped down busybox's options (I guess at the same time the nfs support on kernel was changed to not compile by default) in order to optimize the flash usage for 4mb users. I would try to take a look at busybox's options just for being on the safe side. - Alexandre |

Thanks... busybox has to have NFS turned on, and its build failure gave me the warning that uClibc has to have RPC turned on. I'm rebuilding now with fingers crossed. I think there might be 2 places you need to turn stuff on, on top of the kernel NFS module: * in uclibc, I think there might be some RPC stuff which needs enabling -- I might have left that on though * in busybox, I think there's some "enable NFS support" sub-option under "mount". Yes, I needed to run on 3 things, the kernel NFS support, busybox NFS support, and uClibc RPC and then it worked fine.
