We have a couple idiots in my neighborhood who have decided to start
tagging this one specific area. It gets cleaned up, but they do it again
within a few weeks. So, I got to thinking.... And could use some
I want to setup a Gumstix to monitor this location with motion detectors
and perhaps a small camera. This happens at night, I assume, so the
camera would have to be low-light. I was thinking have the Gumstix
activate the camera and record when motion is detected.=20
The whole thing must be very compact, easy to hide, and last quite a
while on a battery, or even recharge the battery via solar, as long as
it is out of sight. I have a gumstix with an MMC card and such. So, the
gumstix hardware is taken care of. What do you guys suggest for sensors?
That's a pretty good Integrated sensor that you should be able to use on any
i2c capeable breakout boards.
Kinda expensive. If I were you I'd put the sensor high up so the hooligans
couldn't reach it.
btw that's a decent camera for the price but it has limited range. I think
if you added some flood IR lights it could pick up the IR light reflected
back, because the limiting factor on the IR viewable is how much IR it can
Also for turning on a camera reciever or what not you might want to check
out sparkfun.com and look at thier wireless section.
This is what I'm imagineing. Gumstix sits idle untill it picks up some heat,
turns the camera on then sends a signal to aregular computer that as video
in and the film gets logged tivo style onto your host computer. there are
some tricky parts in there but I think it's pretty doable.
