I just committed packages to the cdollar branch to build x11r7,
matchbox, gtk+, pango... pretty much everything needed to get a
working X + gtk+ environment on the gumstix. I've tested it on my
connex with a lcd and touchscreen, and it seems to work really well.
On the added packages there are a couple of issues I've not been able
to work out completely: when pango gets built it stops in the
configure section with some libtool error and prompts me to run
"libtoolize --copy --force" (more specifically it says it is a Gentoo
libtool error - my build host is Gentoo x86_64) If I run that in the
pango dir then the build continues on without error. I'm not sure if
the error is specific to my gentoo system, which is why I haven't
tried to work around it. The only other thing I've noticed so far is
that if you re-run a make of the buildroot after the initial build the
xorg-server and libXft install targets get re-run as well.
Most of the makefiles are from the upstream buildroot and from the
buildroot mailing list that I've adapted to build in the gumstix
I'll work on merging the trunk back onto my branch over the next
couple of days to make sure it works for verdex stixes (and hopefully
get some more testing done!). From there I think I'm going to try to
port gpephone to work for the gumstix...
