I am evaluating the Overo for a new design and have the following questions: Can the VBACKUP be used to maintain the RTC in the TPS65950? If so, what is the current draw on VBACKUP? Will the EHCI port be officially supported in the near future? I noticed on the beagleboard list, it is now working. This product needs two USB host ports, so we are trying to decide if we need to add a hub chip or not? Also, do the OTG and EHCI ports support all speeds (HS, FS, and LS)? I seem to recall at one point reading that one of the ports only supported HS, but this may have been another OMAP device, etc. Thanks, Cliff -- ======================= Cliff Brake http://bec-systems.com |

Thus, the current draw spec for that pin can be obtained from the TPS65950 spec sheet. > Will the EHCI port be officially supported in the near future? Yes, a mis-loaded resistor was the issue. I believe that Gumstix has posted a note about this somewhere on gumstix.net. > Also, do the OTG and EHCI ports support all speeds (HS, FS, and LS)? > I seem to recall at one point reading that one of the ports only > supported HS, but this may have been another OMAP device, etc. Both OMAP3 USB ports are HS only, to use FS and LS devices you will need to connect them through a hub. Hi All, I also removed R26, but I still have Kernel version 2.6.28. Another newbe-question: How can I get the new Kernel version 2.6.29 rc2 and setup my OE environment so that it is taken into consideration upon compilation. It seems that there is no svn-version based on Kernel-version 2.6.29 yet ... at least doing "svn update" does not change anything. "git pull" and subsequent rebuild of the kernel still gives a linux-2.6.28-rc image. I guess it needs more advanced knowledge about bitbake to configure this on one's own. If you have a very strong need to move to 2.6.29-rc2 you can edit linux-omap3_git.bb and comment out: DEFAULT_PREFERENCE = "-1" However unless you really know what you are doing, I do not recommend this. It is still early in the release cycle. I'll remove the above line a bit later in the release cycle when things are stable and then create a 2.6.29 recipe after final release. Steve |

I needed a compiler and I have an OE environment so from my base OE directory I issued the command to build a toolchain: bitbake meta-toolchain This produced the file "tmp/deploy/sdk/angstrom-2008.1-test-20081030-armv7a-linux-gnueabi-toolchain.tar.bz2". Untarring this file put the arm cross compiler in "/usr/local/angstrom/arm/bin". So with a source tree and a cross-compiler, I configured the kernel: make V=1 ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=/usr/local/angstrom/arm/bin/arm-angstrom-linux-gnueabi- menuconfig Then I build the kernel: make V=1 ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=/usr/local/angstrom/arm/bin/arm-angstrom-linux-g nueabi- uImage regards, frank |

First of all: thanks a lot for the help. The information that 2.6.28 is sufficient for driving the USB host is very useful. They only indicate successful tests with 2.6.29. However with 2.6.28, when connecting a uvcvideo webcam, I get the following error message (the camera works with a hub on the USB OTG, so it should not be a camera driver problem): ehci-omap ehci-omap.0: port 2 reset error -110 hub 2-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -32) ehci-omap ehci-omap.0: port 2 reset error -110 hub 2-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -32) ehci-omap ehci-omap.0: port 2 reset error -110 hub 2-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -32) ehci-omap ehci-omap.0: port 2 reset error -110 hub 2-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -32) ehci-omap ehci-omap.0: port 2 reset error -110 hub 2-0:1.0: hub_port_status failed (err = -32) hub 2-0:1.0: Cannot enable port 2. Hi, I'm using a Targus Camera. I found out that it's actually working when connected before booting the overo. It's only causing troubles if I connect at run-time. Is this normal? The hub may be connected at run-time, so I think this should be supported. What could be the reason? It's only causing troubles if I connect at run-time. Is this normal? The hub may be connected at run-time, so I think this should be supported. What could be the reason? I have observed the same thing on a beagleboard with a USB mouse. Cliff -- ======================= Cliff Brake http://bec-systems.com |

I think it might just be the current state of the musb driver in the kernel tree. I've seen it on all the OMAP3 boards. You might have better luck if you use the EHCI port. Of course this will require that you do the R26 fix first. Steve |
