After testing, I've found that the netwifi can't be powered by my
gumstix-supplied UK power plug as the CPU doesn't boot and gets
immediately very very hot (60C when I stopped it). Measuring the voltage
across the plug is only 5.15V, but there is evidently something wrong with
it, presumably an AC characteristic I've not measured. I tried with a
bench supply set to the same voltage and the two boards boot perfectly,
with the CPU running at 35C and the stack of boards using about 500mA.
I can only assume the DC wall plug is running out of bounds in some
manner, and only the robostix board power adapters (which are less
sensitive as I understand it) will run from it.
