Dear Sir/Madam, I have a Gumstix EVM pack and Tobi-Duo. Now, I have a problem of how to configure the static IP address on Tobi-duo & Chestnut43? Please help me to solve this problem. Cheers, Emily |

Sorry, but you will have to give a lot more information to get some help from this mailing list. Which Linux distribution do you use, what method did you tried, is the interface detected, do you encounter some errors during the configuration process? If you just don't know how to configure a network interface in general, please look at the documentation of *ifconfig*, it works on most distributions. Regards, Florian |

Here is an example extracted from my Wifi config (replace wlan0 by your interface). The last 4 lines are adding resolve information to /etc/resolv.conf: auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet static address 10.0.0.50 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.0.0.1 up echo search epfl.ch > /etc/resolv.conf up echo nameserver 10.0.0.1 >> /etc/resolv.conf up echo nameserver 8.8.8.8 >> /etc/resolv.conf up echo nameserver 8.8.4.4 >> /etc/resolv.conf You can get more information using *man interfaces*, also to be found online (e.g. http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages//lucid/man5/interfaces.5.html). Hi Emily, > Hi Florian, > > Thanks for your reply. > But my problem is not how to connect the wifi or setting DNS server. > I have a Tobi-duo and Chestnut43 and I want to know how to setup the static > IP on it? Sorry, but my answer still applies. In the config I sent you, to be placed in /etc/network/interfaces, replace *wlan0* by *eth0" and/or *eth1* depending on your interface and then set the IP for this specific interface. You can put as many configurations as you want in the same file, one for each interface, and even several for the same interface. Please refer to the man page. When you "ifup eth0" / "ifup eth1", the interface will be configured with your static IP. Here I removed the DNS config to avoid any confusion + did the config for eth0: > > auto eth0 > iface eth0 inet static > address 10.0.0.50 > netmask 255.255.255.0 > gateway 10.0.0.1 > > You can get more information using *man interfaces*, also to be found online > (e.g. > http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages//lucid/man5/interfaces.5.html). Dear Emily, Please post your question on the Gumstix mailing list if you want a reply, not as a private message. I am only an irregular user of Gumstix products, thus others may have better answers, and we should share this knowledge with others. > Hi Florian, > > Now, we face another problem on Chestnut43. Which problem exactly? What is the output of the console? > > Our Environment : > COM board: Fire > Expansion board : Chestnut43 > > Could you please tell me how to boot from microSD card(The default is NAND) > ? If you have a SD card plugged in with a valid FAT32 partition with the kernel, as explained on the wiki, I assume that the bootloader should boot on it automatically. Otherwise, from the bootloader prompt, execute: run mmcboot > And could you please provide us the setup manual or setup instruction of > Tobi-Duo? Sorry, I never used this material. Please refer to the wiki, if available. I guess it should be similar to any other expansion board, but with a second Ethernet PHY, probably named eth1. Regards, Florian |
