I am building a gumstix-basic-image with only boa turned on.
I have gone through the kernel config and busybox removing whatever I can.
Once built the jffs2 image is presently 3498096
I need to reduce below 3M to fit on a basix-200
If I untar the image tgz file
tar xfvz /home/gumstix/gumstix-oe/tmp/deploy/glibc/images/gumstix-custom-connex/Angstrom-gumstix-basic-image-glibc-ipk-2007.9-test-20080619-gumstix-custom-connex.rootfs.tar.gz
du -s *
Investigate somewhat there are files not required for an embedded
system, for example:
ls -laR usr/lib/ipkg/info
This amounts to 678Kb. Can we turn these off?
Better still I do not expect to be using ipkg. How do I turn this off?
Also do we need update-alternatives?
Any other suggestions on minimizing the image?
