Apologies in advance if this is a bit vague and out there.
I want to set up multiple SSIDs on the WIFI module of the Gumstix. This
might well sound a bit bizarre but here's an article on the idea:
Numerous Access Points and home routers now have this functionality.
People may not be using it much, as yet, but the technology is there. To
be honest I'm not sure how it's being done at all and can't find much on
the Internet. From what I can see the system uses the same frequency and
channel for the multiple SSIDs so I assume that the wireless driver is
taking care of things and the Wifi chip does not have to change. I might
very well be wrong on that assumption.
Anyhow the application would allow a secure private SSID as well as a
public SSID to be set up in a mobile device. Hopefully a Gumstix.
If anybody has any thoughts or suggestions I'd be happy to hear them
thanks in advance
