My gumstix stopped booting today and I'm worried it might have gone bad.
When I first got it a couple months ago everything seemed to work ok.
But I had moved shortly after receiving it and didn't pull it out again
till yesterday. Yesterday it was having some problems booting to a
prompt. It would boot only so far then seem to stall out. I reflashed
both the filesystem and U-Boot to the latest versions. That didn't seem
to fix the issue. So I did a Ctrl-C to interrupt the bootup so I could
login. I eventually disable the dropbear, boa and bluetooth startup
scripts in init.d and it seemed to load ok after that. I did notice that
the Xscale processor seemed to be running hot from time to time. I had
also connected my netCF board and it was able to get an IP address and I
could ping out as well as read and write to the CF card.
This morning I removed the tweener board and connected the gumstix back
up to my roboaudio and netCF boards. I use a serial port with max232
chip to connect to the console through the roboaudio. When I turned
everything on I get no text on the console screen. There is a green
light on both the roboaudio board and netCF. I took everything apart and
reconnected the gumstix to the tweener and I am still not getting
anything on my screen.
If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
I recently tried to booting my basix 400xm and got no response from
the device. The power LED lights up however I get no boot text through
the terminal. I've tested the serial cable and it seems to be working
I had an audiostix 2 connected when I it failed the first time. I
subsequently removed the audiostix and used just the tweener and again
no text on the console screen.
It had been booting consistently until recently. I reflashed the
filesystem when I received the device and it hasn't changed since
I'm concerned that it might be a hardware problem. The IC labeled TP10
U32 gets extremely hot when I try to boot. It's located opposite the
Has anyone experienced this before? Any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
