Hi Is there a way to get the buildroot that corresponds to my gumstix release? (2.6.10gum #1) I'd like to compile a kernel module (and probably need to turn on some other modules) but I am anxious about upgrading the kernel right off... - I don't want to 'brick' this thing (I don't have any JTAG hw) - I saw people were having trouble with bluetooth in -current Brad |

If you do you can use u-boot to re-flash even if you mess-up the Linux install. The u-boot sectors are on the flash are write-protected, so provided you don't re-flash u-boot (which is hard to do accidentally and not necessary for changing the Linux bits) you don't need JTAG. I wouldn't risk flashing u-boot without JTAG hardware but flashing a new root_fs_arm isn't going to 'brick' your gumstix. http://www.gumstix.org/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=U-Boot Tim |
