I'm having trouble with USBnet. I pretty sure that this is *not* the
same as the general stability problems that have been floating around.
Plugging in my gumstix (basix + breakout-gs) into a windows box gives an
"Unknown Device" error. Looking at the info in the device manager
indicates that the vendor and product ID codes are coming through as
zeros. Since this happens before the driver has a chance to load, at
don't believe it is a problem with Microsoft's RNDIS support.
I've seen some mention of this problem, but no solutions. I'd be happy
if the consensus was bad hardware -- I can still RMA it.
Don't know if we are having the same problem with usbnet, sometimes i also
got the unrecognized message from windows, but, after reinstalling the
driver, "that" prob was solved. However i had a red cross over the network
device, meaning it hadnt connection.
On the other side, the gumstix was recognizing the connection, but network
was unreachable, seems something has changed (at least that is what i
conclude, maybe a configuration of the network as Dave suggested) from
2.6.11 to 2.6.17. With the factory image 2.6.11 that came with my gum, it
worked just following Dave's instructions, with 2.6.17 this is what
happened. On the other hand, with the 2.6.11 etherstix did not get an IP,
but its working fine with 2.6.17
I cant help you much, as am a noob and really need sit and learn linux from
the basics, but im in rush right now.
