Hi folks, I'm a CS guy so all this embedded stuff is new to me. I would like some expert advice as whether the lasertag system that I would like to pursue is feasible using Gumstix. I found the following site: http://www.lasertagparts.com/mtdesign.htm what I would like to do is the following: Have a harness with 4 IR receivers in the front and back connected by bluetooth to a waysmall in a fanny pack. Connect three IR receivers for the helmet by bluetooth to the way small. Connect the gun to gumstix as well by bluetooth. Maybe use gumstix in the gun itself to power the IR LED. A question: Can a system such as described get enough power from a rechargable battery to last 3-4 hrs. If anybody with embedded experience would be interested in building something like this it would be cool to create an open source project so others might be able to create their own. Contact me if interested. |

Why bother with bluetooth to connect the IR sensors to the computer? Wires are the way to go. You need to wear a harness anyhow. The single bluetooth link to the gun makes some sense if you need to send data TO the gun. Each gun can have a unique ID encoded in it's output so receivers could take the appropriate action like registering a hit or not. Each player could be linked up via WiFi for some cool scoring/monitoring applications. -Scott On 4/10/06, Garth Lezama <ga...@ya...> wrote: > Hi folks, I'm a CS guy so all this embedded stuff is > new to me.
