Anyone using the realtek RTL8188SU usb dongle with the overo? I can cross-compile the realtek driver and it the dongle works with my overo/summit combination. However the only limitation seems to be ad-hoc network can only be created in 802.11b or g mode, not n. 802.11n mode will work if the dongle connects to an access point (wifi router) instead. I really need the n (150mbps) ad-hoc network to be created, therefore i was wondering if anyone had this limitation and found a way around it. -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/Realtek-wifi-usb-driver-tp29449250p29449250.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Have you tried tweaking the driver you cross compiled to add in that ability? That is what I would try, I had to patch my driver files for my alfa usb adapter to be able to get every ability it has. I would try searching for exsisting patches. Possibly try the aircrack-ng site for patches. msbroadf wrote: > > Anyone using the realtek RTL8188SU usb dongle with the overo? > > I can cross-compile the realtek driver and it the dongle works with my > overo/summit combination. Can I ask you how you hooked up your wifi usb dongle? Can you directly plug the dongle into the host port of the summit board or do you need to go through a hub? Thanks. msbroadf wrote: > > Anyone using the realtek RTL8188SU usb dongle with the overo? > > I can cross-compile the realtek driver and it the dongle works with my > overo/summit combination. Wouldn't I need a mini-A to Female A adapter to plug the usb dongle directly to this port? Can you tell me where you got this adapter? I did it finally works (rtl8188su working with aircrack)! You must to do this With the wireless unplugged do this as root (does not care if some commands return error of dir not found): Execute commands without the #: #rm -R /lib/firmware/RTL8192E #rm -R /lib/firmware/RTL8192SU #rm -R /lib/firmware/RTL8192SE #rm -R /lib/firmware/RTL8188SU And then: #mkdir /lib/firmware/RTL8192E && mkdir /lib/firmware/RTL8192SU && mkdir /lib/firmware/RTL8192SE && mkdir /lib/firmware/RTL8188SU #wget http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/kernel/dists/trunk/firmware-nonfree/realtek/RTL8192SU/rtl8192sfw.bin #cp rtl8192sfw.bin /lib/firmware/RTL8192E #cp rtl8192sfw.bin /lib/firmware/RTL8192SU #cp rtl8192sfw.bin /lib/firmware/RTL8192SE #cp rtl8192sfw.bin /lib/firmware/RTL8188SU Now plug in the usb wireless and find where is mounted using: #iwconfig in my case: wlan1 now turn it on monitor mode: #airmon-ng start wlan1 It usually don't mount in mon0 so you must use: #airodump-ng wlan1 I hope this works for you. |
