Hello, I am using Garcia robots for my research work which has gumstix-verdex processing unit. I just want to intiate a communication between robots using client-server application. In order to do that i need to place .exe files of my C program on the gumstix board. Firstly, I built an environment on UBUNTU 9.04 machine and followed the steps to install my cross compiler i.e arm-linux-gcc. After that i used the following command to compile my prgm. arm-linux-gcc -o hello helloworld.c It gave me .exe files...i placed them on gumstix board using WINSCP and tried to execute using putty but its giving me the following error: sh: hello : command not found. While installing my cross compiler it asked me to check revision number of my gumstix board, but i didnot find gumstix-revision folder in /etc. I can see 2 files version and gumstix-version in /etc directory. Gumstix-version file gave me the revision number as R318M....i dont know whether it is correct one or not because i could not find the tar file for that very old revision. Version file shows as 200805121046 2008-05-12 tells us the date of manufacture or some thing, then what is 1046??Is that revision number?? I though it as a revision number and proceeded but i am facing a problem with .exe files as mentioned earlier. same error with the latest version too.. And how can i get internet to gumstix board?? Thank you, Sravani. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/problem-with-arm-linux-gcc-and-gumstix-board-revision-tp25716647p25716647.html Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Hi, Note that unlike in Windows, you must give the full path (or a relative path) to the executable you want to launch, unless it is in one of the folders referenced in the $PATH environnement variable (/bin, /usr/bin, etc...). So, to launch your 'hello' program, use either ./hello or /home/root/hello (adapt to the relative or absolute path of your executable). This should get you past the 'sh: hello : command not found' error. Regarding the revision, 318M refers to the subversion revision of the gumstix-oe repository. If you followed the instructions from gumstix.net, this is probably what you used to build your cross compiler. Did you follow those instructions to get your cross compiler: http://www.gumstix.net/Setup-and-Programming/view/Getting-started/Setting-up-a-build-environment/111.html ? The version of the SVN repository mentioned in those instructions (https://gumstix.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gumstix/trunk) is r318, the same revision that was used to build the system for your Verdex, so it should work for you. For your 'hello' program, I forgot to mention that a program needs to be marked as executable to be launched. This is done with the chmod command, which changes a file's permissions, making it writable, readable or executable by you, your group or the system. Try doing 'chmod 755 hello' then ./hello (on the Gumstix, in the same directory as your hello file). Thank you Thierry I followed the same link to build my cross compiler...coming to the version number for 318M while doing bitbake i am getting an error like missing file in particular path so i googled it but i didnt find that file...for other versions like 1046 i am getting same error like missing file but i found them in the internet so i donwloaded and placed manually in the path where it is missing..Coming to the chmod thing i already gave permissions before i execute but it didnt work....DO you want me to save file with .exe extension like hello.exe instead of hello?? Thank you, Sravani. I assume that the 1046 revision you are talking about is the svn revision of another repository than the one mentioned previously. This is most likely the old buildroot repository. Be aware that a cross compiler built with buildroot will produce binaries that cannot be run on your verdex's system, built with the newer openembedded system. The filename is meaningless on Linux. The .exe extension is only used on Windows. Sorry, I am running out of ideas. I am surely missing something obvious. Have you tried asking Acroname? The latest version is 1602 i tried with that too i got same error while doing bitbake..again i downloaded the file and placed it manually then it worked but .exe files are not working on my verdex board...yeah i cpnected acroname people..They are saying that they dont have any idea about gumstix..they told me to use aRelay application instead of using cross compiler... Do you have any idea about aRelay application?
